The Safe-Life “Out of Bed” Sensor system can be used in a home just as it would in a care residence. As the occupant lowers their leg down either side of the bed, an invisible beam is broken generating an alarm which is displayed on the carer’s personal pager wherever they are in the house or garden.
The bed exit sensor beams operate silently and are inconspicuously mounted in brackets on the wall at the head of the bed.
The system consists of the Bed Exit Sensor Beam kit, either single or dual. This is connected to either a bed side call point/transmitter which is fitted to the wall or the optional portable transmitter. As the occupant attempts to exit the bed the invisible beam is broken and the carer is notified on their hospital grade pager. The pager has variable sound and vibration settings and will beep continuously until any button on the pager is pressed. The range between the bed transmitter and pager is approximately 100meters.
When the “Out of Bed” sensor is on an LED on the in-line on/off switch illuminates. The invisible curtain beam will allow a carer to stand close to the bed without setting it off. The beam also is designed to taper down and end at the base of the bed allowing people to walk around the back of the bed without triggering an alarm.
In the past 10 years Safe-Life have supplied several thousand of the “Out of Bed” exit sensor systems to many Aged Care facilities, home care and community housing situations throughout Australia.
Double and triple adaptors allow connection of pendant cords and other devices to the bedside nurse call point. Safe-Life offer the standard Barrel Grip pendant cord, Silicon pendant cord and Pressure Pad pendant cord. All are made with anti-fungal / anti-bacterial properties and are 3meters in length. (5 meters also available on some)
The portable remote pendant is manufactured in New Zealand. It has a lanyard and is designed to be worn around a user’s neck. This call for help button will transmit directly to the carer’s pager reporting “Pendant Alarm” as opposed to “Bed Alarm”. The pendant is water proof and the range is approximately 100 meters.
Because the range of transmitters is approximately 100 meters and you can have as many transmitters and pagers as you wish, each reporting its unique location or ID to the pagers, this system is deal for community housing and the like.
